Gill's skiing style possesses an unexplained "elegance" - unexplained in the sense that she's done quite a few Murray Camps so (a) clearly never learnt it there, and (b) has somehow failed to have it knocked out of her by the coaches. Not that they haven't tried. Taking someone down a run where they are quite obviously scared ****less is often referred to by the coaches as "taking them outside of their comfort zone". When you're Gill and the person taking you down that run is Kindree, then this is plainly an assassination attempt (actually, given that it's Kindree, this is not an unreasonable assumption). In this particular instance however, Gill found a unique means of surviving which should be held up as an example to Murray Campers everywhere: namely by singing the words "I'm going to kill John Kindree" to herself over and over again as she confronted the horror (or horrors if you include the ski run).

Another mechanism that Gill employs to survive the dreadful experience that is Murray Camp is "medicine". Medicine consists of "strong liquor" of a Scottish single malt variety carried around in a hip flask by her during Murray Camps. In an act of unprecedented charity this is administered to the fellow sufferers in her Murray Camp group at strategic intervals during the day as they together try to survive their ordeal.
